*This is parts of the email Sonia forwarded to me! She has been so busy that she hasn't had a chance to write an email dedicated for the blog only so enjoy this one. -Tiffanee

Oh mercy, there´s so much to tell you! I have a new companion and life is SO HAPPY! Hermana Hazelton is so sweet, and likes to work HARD! I´m so excited! Las Viñas will never be the same! I am seriously so happy I can´t describe it!
SO...... I went to the hospital last week and had an ENDOSCOPY! The best part is I got a DVD of the procedure! How cool is that?! Well, there`s some news.... I have gastritis, ulcers (really small though), and probably a problem with my intestines. BUT I think I´ll be okay. I just have a lot of nausea, pain, and diarrhea but really, it´s not every moment of every day so life is good. But President made a strict rule that if there´s anyone ill for more than two weeks they have to go home to heal. I don´t think my gastritis is included in that. Oh, so I have an appointment this Wednesday to get the final results of my endoscope and hopefully will receive all the right medication to help!
Why does God heal some people right away and others after a trail of their faith when they had enough faith to ask for a blessing in the first place. Well, I think you already answered the question. It`s a trial of our faith. Faith is an action word and more than just a belief. When we live and make correct decisions based on what we know to be true, or what we believe, that is a demonstration of our faith. God often asks a little of us before we can receive his blessings. Why? For our spiritual good and our development. I received a blessing for my stomach the first month I got in the field and for the first time it felt like God was speaking directly to me through the words of the Elder giving me the blessing. I felt that God was and is really aware of me. In the blessing He said that my stomach would be healed but that it would take time. That I needed to learn patience. That what I am enduring is a little part of the atonement Christ suffered. That my savior is with me every step of the way. So I guess the purpose isn´t to ask, why is this happening to me. But to remember Christ suffered this for me and will help me overcome all things if but do my part. Faith is expressed in our actions. If God wants to humble ourselves and try our faith a little before we are healed or blessed it´s for our good. All that God does has a spiritual purpose. I know that God loves us and is our Heavenly Father. I know that my Savior lives. I have a testimony that this Church has the fullness of the Plan of Salvation and doctrines of Christ. I know the Book of Mormon is a true testament of Jesus Christ. And that the priesthood is the authority to perform the ordinances and covenants of God on this earth and has been restored. I understand more of His sacrifice. I learned that the Savior felt our pains and sins individually, like people waiting in a line, one by one. He knows us personally and individually. I believe he is constantly aware of us, guides us, helps us, and prays for us.
Keep praying for me but don´t worry! I`m really alright! and still hard at work! I LOVE YOU! Oh, and below is a copy of my letter to president in Spanish!

Presidente Ardila,

Familia y amigos!

Okay, that was my unedited letter to the president! Let´s hope it makes sense!
Anywho, for those of you that don´t read broken spanish this is what I wrote! This last week has been filled with milagros! (I´ve decided if I forget how to spell a word in English I´ll just spell it in spanish. That works right?) Anywho, I have a a testimony of fasting and prayer in regaurdes to misisonary work! This last week our investigador Alberto (the one who had a dream about the church and the book of mormon) has been progressing so much! When we first met Alberto he said he didn´t believe in God or Christ. So our first few lession were about faith. He has been diligent in his reading of the book of mormon and praying. Last week Alberto texted us and told us that he recieved a answer to his prayer that God existes! WOW! I know I shouldn´t be surprised but I´m just so happy! Last night we had a lession with Alberto about the resturation of the priesthood and church of Jesus Christ. The lession started out at his house but then he felt that we should go have the lession at the Bazan Family´s casa! It was defenitely a prompting from the Spirit because the lession wouldn´t have gone as well without them. We watched the video about the resturation and answered Alberto´s questions about the priesthood. The spirit was so strong but in the middle of the lesson he stated how he didn´t feel it necissary to pray about the book of mormon. What!? He said if he recieved an answer it was true he would be obligate to make changes in his life he didn´t want to make in this moment. We talked about eternal happiness and the true importance of having a testimony that the book of mormon is true, translated by a prophet of God and that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. During the entire lession I was praying that we would be able to teach what he needed, that he would recieve the answer he needed. AND THEN while Hermana Bazan was sharing her testimony Alberto flipped to the Doctrine and Covenants in my Triple. He started reading Section 18 wide eyed. It is revelation given about keeping the commandments and trusting God. It was an answer in the moment he needed it most. It was beautiful. He read it aloud and said he felt peace and hope. We invited him to pray and ask God if the book of mormon is true and he agreed to pray. I invited him to baptism and he said YES, after he recieves an answer in prayer.

Las Viñas 2 (alta) has been a tough area but I feel that we have found our perpouse here. Alberto! Also, Familia Cahua! Maria and Julio are most humble and sweetest people I have ever met. They´re like my peruvian grandparents! When we met them Julio hadn´t been to church for years. And guess what! Last week Julio was at church and bore his testimony! AND he and Maria have the goal to return to the temple! We are going with them to the interviews with the bishiop and hopefully the temple too!

There are other people here who´ve made it all worth while! Like Judith and Marlith! I love the people here with all my heart! And I have the best ward imagenable! The bishopric, ward mission leader (Hna Huaman) and everyone else are all about the missionary work and focused on their menos activos! It is so wonderful! It reminds me of section 4 of D&C. Everyone in this word is working their hardest.

Oh, one quick story!

Electro Peruano 101

So a few weeks Hna Sagastegui and I were doing some service at familia cauhua´s casa. They had just recently bought a washing machine for their ropas and were washing a load. So, the set up is a little ramshackle and the wiring was just kind to hanging from the ceiling. Without really thinking I unpluged the washing machine thinking it was the lamp or something! As I did a spark flew and the conductor was fried! I FELT SO BAD! I just killed their conductor and they barely have enough to eat! So right away we went and I bought a new one!

But instead of just plugging it into the extention cord into the  wall Julio and I started cutting cords, attaching the aluminum wires and wrapping cords with electrical tape and what not! In the end the extention cords worked! It was so crazy! I wish I had more time to explain but I have less than a minute! Hahaha, I hope it makes sense!

LOVE YOU ALL"

Love,

Hermana Cornu

Family and Friends!!!!!

I love you guys so much! Sorry about last week, I ended up writing friends from the mission! And sorry about this week. I spent my whole pday at the post office picking up a package! THANK YOU MOM! Youre the best! And my friends thank you too!

Great news! Your prayers have helped immensely! Thank you so much! My toes are healed! I don't really know what happened but I'll try to send pictures next week. Hahaha, or someday. I'm writing from the mission home but don't have much time.

So the work in Las Vinas is going great! Slow, but our investigators are great!

I LOVE our ward! The members are so willing to help with the obra misional! And our ward mission leader Hermano Human is the best! It's funny, there's been a few times where he's found us walking tocar puertas and had us hop in his car. He would give us a drive by tour of where all the members of the ward live and every few minutes stop, roll down his window and have a conversation with some random person in the street and invite them to hear from missionaries, us! LOL A whole new way to go tracking! So crazy.

Okay, my spanish has improved a lot but I have one funny story! I don't think I've already shared it but forgive me if I have. Okay, a few weeks ago Hermana Sagastegui and I were knocking doors one night. I rang the door bell and started talking to a girl through the intercom. I explained how we were missionaries and wanted to share a message about Jesus Christ and the importance of families. The girl said she would have to ask her parents. As she asked her mom said "Who is it?" and she responded "I don't know, the girl was speaking Portuguese!" My companion started laughing! I think my gift of tongues is set to the wrong language! Hahaha

Hahah, okay, no mas tiempo!

LOVE YOU!

Mi familia y amigos!!!

This week has been great but full of interesting mishaps! For example the other day I went to use the bathroom at my pensionista´s casa and as I was washing my hands Hermana Rebecca knocked on the door in a panic saying Hermana Cornu, did you use the bathroom? There was ´´acido on the toliet seat!´´ But all this was in spanish of course. I stood there and realized that my skin did not feel normal!!! Hahaha, but no worries I washed it off and I´m perfectly fine! But yes, I was scared out of my mind with a chemical called ACIDO on my behind!

This week I also obtained an interesting toe infection but I´m going to the doctor today so no worries! It looks like of like a blister but was leaking puss..... I´ll try to send a pic!

Oh, and this week I lost all my money for the month. Well, lost it or it was stolen, I´m not sure. But no worries, I think I can get permision to withdraw some money from my personal account. I´m sad because it was 100 soles but trying to keep positive!

Oh, it was cool, there was a joven (young kid) 17 years old that came to church last week and told us how he´s not a member but had a dream about the church! It was really interesting!

Oh wow, there´s a lot I want to tell you guys about but my mom is online! Mas mas tarde!

LOVE YOU ALL!!!

10/7/13

Hola familia y amigos!

What a week! Did you guys watch conferencia general!? It was amazing! Hermana Sagastegui and I were only able to watch the the morning sessions of Saturday and Sunday. We didn´t have investigators that could attend the afternoon sessions so we weren´t  able to watch it. But we went to work instaed.

Oh mercy, this week has been a trail of paciencia y esperanza. Throughout the week we had 19 appoinments, which is really great! But all of them fell through except for 3. I´m really excited to work hard but it sometimes feels like no matter how well we plan and get to work nothing comes of it. Don´t get me wrong, I love every moment. I just hope that I can spend my time in Las Viñas wisely and do the work that needs to be done.

Okay, fun story! So last night we had guinie pig soup again! And this time as I was spooning some of the broth I noticed an unusual shape... so I used my spoon to surface the mass hiding in my soup and it was unlike anthing I have ever seen before! I was like a knot of intestines! I tried to hid it back down at the bottom of my bowl, but it kept floating back to the surface! I decided to pretend I was at Hogwarts or on an episode of Man vs Wild with Bear Grylls and just eat it! And right before I took my first bite Hermano Gonzales told informed me that it was a GUINIE PIG WOMB and very ricco! So I ate it, the whole thing! It tasted okay, and the texture wasn´t too bad either. I think that will be the only time however that I eat the womb of any creature.... Oh mercy. Hahaha. What an experience!

Well friends and family! I love you all! If possible email conference to me in english so I can print it out!! LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TY!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART!

Sorry, I have no idea how to fix the font color. I tried but I decided it´s not worth the time! Haha

Okay! So I´m actually going to send some photos today! It takes 2934029352039 years to load so we´ll see how it goes!

So this week the work has been a little slow. A lot of our appointments fell through but on the bright side we have an investigador who wants to be baptised! He´s name is Alberto! He´s an absolute doll and basically knows everything there is to know about the gospel! Haha, but for real. We barely even have to teach him, we just ask him a few questions and he has all the answers!

Oh! Guess what! On Jueves Hermana Hamiliton, Blackwell, Sagastegui and I taught our first English Class! Every Thursday night we teach a free english class for anyone who wants to learn! We´ve had no training but we use the grammer books we recieved at the CCM and just reverse it to Enlish! It´s a lot of fun! Last week we taught formal greetings and Ser y Estar form, in enlish To Be form. And next week we´re going to teach how to pray and talk about family!

Oh so this last week I had an embaressing moment. I was at my pensonista´s casa for aylmuerzo and was showing everyone my Whoville impression (how I can hold air under my upper lip... I forget why I was doing this but yeah.... haha) and as I was doing so I started scooting the stool I was sitting on backwards but then the legs got caught and the little stool fell from underneath me! All I remeber was that I fell falt on my butt and my skirt caught a lot of air! Hahaha, oh mercy everyone was laughing so hard! And the poor stool survived but theres a bit of a crack in it. I feel awful but it was almost worth the laugh!

Oh! One thing that I love about Lima is that there are dogs hanging out on the roofs of houses! ALL THE TIME! I go to ring a door bell and then I hear barking from a dog who looks like he´s tempted to jump on me and destroy me! It´s wild!

Oh, real quick, it coast about 9 soles to mail letters and 27 soles to mail letters in one envelop.. so I won´t be mailing letters for a while until I figure out a way to balance out everything money wise.

Oh one last funny story! So yesterday we were at a familia Rivera´s house for lunch. And they were asking about my life and so of course I told them all about Ty! hahah and they asked how old he was and I mentioned how he´s a little younger. And then Hermano Rivera said ´´Oh we have a word for that in spanish!´´ hahah and I laughed and said ´´we do too, in english its cougar´´. But because my last name Cornu is hard to pernouce/ remember as Hna Sagastegui and I were leaving familia Rivera´s casa,  Hermana Rivera said ´´chao Hna Cougar´´ instead of Cornu. We all started laughing so hard! I thought she said it as a joke but she ment to say cornu! She felt so bad, which made it even funnier. hahaha ANd then, their 4 year old son Leyonardo kept yelling Hna Cougar! Hna Cougar! Hahah oh mercy!

Oh, so the pictures just finished loading... so sorry, I hope the 3 i picked were winners. hahaha next week I´ll send a pick of Pollo brasa y papas fritas! A popular dish aqui in Lima! AND INCA COLA. It´s a yellow soda that tasted exactly like bubble gum. IT´s a little strange at first but one grows to love it. Haha

Well, life in Las Viñas Alta is swell! Continue to pray for me! I need all the help I can get!

LOVE YOU!

Hermana Cougar

P.S. Can someone forward this to Claire! Tell her I miss her like crazy and that I forgot her email!

Oh mercy, can I just say how much I miss you all! The work has been going great! Being brand new to a newly established area started off a little slow but things are picking up! The people of Peru are amazing. So many people are willing to share their beliefs and want to learn more about the Savior. I can see their faith through their eyes and it´s incredible.

We have a handful of investigators in our area and a lot of future investigators. Future investigators are people we meet in the street or at their door who want to learn more later in the week. We meet and talk to with over 100 people a week! It`s awesome!

My Spanish feels like it`s progressing slowly but my friends say they can see the difference. I just need to do my best and be pacient! Oh mercy, all this Spanish makes it impossible to remember how to spell in English! hahaha, Los siento! Also, I´ve said a lot of things in the past 13 days in Spanish that were NOT what I ment to say. I`ve said a few things missionaries just don`t say! Haha, but not on perpouse!

OH! So I feel the need to share with you one experience from my first week in the field. My companion and I are walking down the side walk and I hear a Tarzan/ George of the Jungle call so I look up and see a young boy hanging from the branch of a tree while his friend shook the tree as hard a possible. I laughed to hard! I love kids!

Second! Natalie, please don´t hate me for life...... but last night our pensionista made this awesome sopa (soup) with GUEINI PIG!!!!!!!! I thought it was a slab of pork! It tasted just like pork but Nayale (one of the daughts who I LOVE!!) told me it was gueini pig! I was so excited to have finially tried it but felt a little bad.I´M sorry Natalie! Know that I love you more than eating gueini pigs and I hope you forgive me!

So! My favorite thing is praying in the temple! I can feel the God hears my prayers and the comfort of the Spirit is so incredibly strong! We got to go to the temple as a disctrict this week! I prayed that God would help me recongize the promptings of the Spirit and help give me the courage to act on each one! Later that day I felt small promptings to walk down a particular street, or knock on a certin door! And each time we found someone who was receptive to our message and wanted to learn more! It´s hard reconizing the spirit sometimes. It often feels like a thought or a feeling of truth. It`s easy to ignore but more often than not if its the Spirit I recieve the same prompting again if I am tempted to ignore it. As I`ve put forth greater effort to follow each prompting I´ve notice the work is much easier when I allow God to guide me!

P.S. I LOVE studying the scriptures! Nothing invites the spirit like prayer and reading the scriptures. I have a true testimony of that! Family, you should try praying and reading the scriptures as a family cada día! I can promise you will be blessed! I wish I had that habit before I left on my mission. I have learned and grown so much just by doing those two things each day since being on my mission!

I feel like I`ve been writing forever but I see that I haven`t written much! I`m sorry friends and family! I´ll send some photos now since I didn´t have time last week! I LOVE YOU ALL!

Tiffanee, Thank you so much for all that you do and I LOVE YOU AND MISS you like crazy! You`re emails brighten my week! #ladytime

Katie, I MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU! Thank you so for the email! You crack me up! I miss you like crazy! I seriously basically cried... ahahah.Katie! Try for the soft ball thing! You would make an AMAZING coach! You have the ablility to motivate and encourage people! Thats not something everyone can do! You are a great teacher and leader and I can see you being amazing as a coach! I wish I had time to respond to everything you wrote me! Know that I love you and I`ll try to write you a letter!

Oh! And if anyone wants to write me letters (MOM) you might want to try DEARELDER.COM, fill in my mission home address and send it that way. It costs a dollar but I might get it sooner! Okay, 5 mins to send photos! Ill try to be quick!

LOVE YOU ALL!

Oh and NATALIE!! I love and miss you with all my heart and pray for you everyday and KNOW that you would make an amazing missionary! You should think about it! You have such a loving heart and I know you could be an amazing instrument in the hands of the lord! Just ponder it! I LOVE YOU and am so proud of you!

LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Oh Ty! I love you too!

Love,

Hermana Cornu

Anywho, don't be impressed, I wrote that before write this email! Mission life is going great! I have a new companion! Hermana Sagastegui! She's amazing! It was so funny, last night when visting a family she opened up a Liahona (Ensign) and flipped to a page with her picture on it!!! Hermana Segastegui is the first girl of peru to enter the mission field at age 19! I think I remember seeing her picture in the Ensgin too! You should look and let me know if you find it! From July 2013!

So! My companion and I are in the nicest area called Las Veñas! I area split our first day so we have Las Veñas alta! Brand spank'n new! Are we're both new to the area entirely! So I guess the Lord really trusts us!

This last week we've found new investigators and have gotten to know the families of the ward! And I've been doind my best to talk to everyone I come in contact with! My spanish is HORRIBLE but I'm so excited to learn!!!

Our aparment is way nice! I feel really lucky! However, the Sister missionaries are always placed in the nicer areas! Haha, poor Elders.

We have a penciónista! Hermana Gonzalas! Her and her family are so nice and beautiful! I wanted to get a picture with them today but I forgot! The food is always amazing! However, I think the people here think if they feed us more they get more blessings! Probably true but I'm going to get so fat! Hahaha. We eat all that we're given and each time I feel like I just walked away from a Thanks Giving feast!

This last Sunday was stake conference! The apostles had a speacial message for the people of Peru! I heard what they said was really beautiful! I listened of course, however didn't understand much! It was broadcasted but filmed in Peru I believe!

Oh! I had an interview with my Mission President! He told me to tell you (Mom and Dad) thank you for sending such a wonderful daughter and that I'm going to make a great missionary! What kind words! He also told me that if I work hard I'll be able to say and understand all that I need to in Spanish in TWO MONTHS! WOW! What an amazing blessing. I'll have to work my tail off but I know that the Lord helps those who give their best!

I LOVE YOU ALL! I want to send some photos! Know that I love and miss you all!

Please forward this email to Katie, Claire and Moroni!!! Let them know I love and miss them!!!

P.S. Even though I barely speak spanish I still find a way to rave about Ty! Hhahahaha! Everyone loves it!

Until next week!

P.S. Sorry I was unable to write last week, we didn't get a PDAY!

Love,

Hermana Cornu

P.S. Haven't gotten to eat guinie pig yet, or however its spelled, pero, chicken feet may be in my future!!!! :D lOVE YOU!

2 weeks left in the CCM!

Dear Friends and Family!

I have so much to share this week but so little time to share it! I spent the majority of the time writing mis padres!

Anywho! Only two more weeks and I am out in the field! It is so crazy to think about. I have learned a lot of Spanish but at the same time, I know nothing and have a feeling I the first few months are going to be burtal! However, I do know that God is helping me and will continue to help me. So, at least I'm not stressed!

Oh! The hight light of this week! On Saturday a whole herd of children came to visit the CCM!!!!!!! It was so cool! We had a group visit our class! They were in primary! We asked if they would sing their favorite primary song and they did! It was so precious!!!

So! One of my teachers Hermano Tello loves to take time from Language study and teach us about the culture of Peru! I now know what the symbols on the flag stand for! The Llama represents the richness and diveristy of the animal kingdom and the tree of the richness of the plant kindgom. The cornucopia resembles all the minerals of Peru! And the red and white resemble the blood of the patriots and the peace that came from their sacrifice.

Oh! And since the Lima East mission was splite earlier in July the East mission is now mostly city! Where the CCM and Temple are at!!! So, perhaps no jungle for me, but we'll see! ;) Oh No! No time left!!

So sorry, I'll send more pictures next time! And a longer email!

I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Much love,

Hermana Cornu

P.S. Elder COOK came and spoke on SUNDAY AT THE CCM!!! I'LL TELL YOU ALL ABOUT IT NEXT WEEK!!!!

I miss you all so much! Life here at the CCM has been awesome! I can't believe it's already been 20 days! The time has just been flying by! Everyday is jammed packed with classes and lessons!

Guess what! So every week we have to prepare a 5 minute talk in Spanish with the chance that we might get called up to speak in sacrament. The main purpose of preparing the talks is so that by the time we get into the field and are ever called to share a thought in sacrament meeting we have something to say! Well, this last Sunday I had a feeling someone from our district was going to give a talk. I said a prayer in my heart during sacrament meeting asking God to please help who ever had to speak represent our district well. And right after I said that I heard my name being announced "Hermana Cornu as the last speaker". Ah, it was funny. I had prepared a talk completely in Spanish so it wasn't too nerve wracking. It was on repentance. I'll try to mail it to you later! I recieved a lot of complements on my Spanish but little did they know I just copied phrases out of my Spanish for Missionaries book! :) But honestly, what else am I supposed to do? I am now learning how to conjugate and what not. Well, I feel like I've been taught since week one but it's now all starting to click.

Besides talks on Sunday we teach fake investigators lessons in Spanish a few times a week, and have to prepare lessons to teach the class. On top of learning Spanish and having every minute of the day planned out it seems a little overwhelming but I haven't gotten stressed yet. Thank goodness! I just ignore the fact I leave here in a few weeks and hope for the best! I just tell my self fear is a lack of faith. :) My companions have told me my Spanish has come a long way. I feel like it's starting to get easier, but still pray for me! I need all the help and blessings I can get! :)

So, once again I can barely remember all the things I wanted to tell you about that happened through out the week. Los seinto!!! Oh. One thing I wanted to mention, there are so many doves that live at the CCM! They're big, brown, beautiful doves with white strips on their wings!  And they sound like mourning doves! But their "chirp" is slightly different. I'll try to catch one and video tape it for you! Jajaja, jk! ;)

Also, the food here is awesome. Oh! Next week I'll send a picture of this fruit they have! I don't know it's name but it looks like frog eggs! It's awesome.

So I pretty much have the most amazing district ever! I seriously never stop laughing. They're so funny! I've been told by several people that they know exactly where I'm at in the CCM because they can hear my laugh. So embarrassing, but I can't help it! I just miss laughing! Hahaha :)

Oh Natalie! Will you forward this to Katie and Claire! I miss them dearly! With all my heart! I don't have their emails with me at the moment!

We got to go to the temple today! SO AMAZING! I love the temple! It truely is a house of the Lord.

Anywho, I love guys! Oh mi familia! So far I have mailed you two letters! Please write me a letter! Elder Netzley has been getting letters from his grandma every week and I'm starting to get jealous! Hahaha. But for real. ;) I think it takes about two weeks for the letters to get here but if you send one now I might be able to get it before I leave!

P.S. Can you email or mail me an English Ensign of General Conference¡?¡?¡ They're for sale here but only in Spanish. Aaaaaand I'm not quite fluent yet.
P.P.S. The vender churrors here are amazing! Filled with carmel!

Alright, I have to go!! I love you!

P.P.P.S Thanks for the email Gary! It's so good to hear from you! You too Kally Rae! You're amazing!! Love you guys!!!

Love,

Hermana Cornu

Temple Trip!

Dear Family & Friends,

Hola! What an incredible week! On Saturday all the missionaries in the CCM went proselyting! Yes, my 10th day of being in Peru and learning Spanish and I am out an about bearing my testimony of el evangelio y el Libro De Mormom in SPANISH! Okay, I barely did any of the talking. I left that for Hermana McInnis! She's amazing at speaking Spanish! But we did our best and every person we spoke with listened to our message! The people of Peru are so kind and willing to talk about their beliefs! They have a deep love for Christ and are always wanting to learn more and draw closer to Him! We gave out 8 Libro de Mormons and a bunch of pamphlets and invited 9 people to church! The people of Peru are amazing! I am still amazed how friendly everyone is and they don't mind giving their time to talk with a stranger! I prayed that God would lead us to people who were ready in their hearts. Twice I felt impressed that perhaps we had. Later Saturday night when praying I felt in my heart God's love for me and that I'm in the right place doing the right thing.

Today is Pday! WE GOT TO GO TO THE TEMPLE!!!!!!!!!! I love the temple! Temples are the most peaceful and beautiful places on all the earth! The Lima Peru Temple is rather small but it is so gorgeous! I endowment session was in Spanish too, but luckily they had translators!

Oh, so I LOVE my companions and my district! Seriously the most amazing people ever! Every night we have district dinner and during physical activities mi compeñaras and I do cross fit or play ultimate frisbee with the Elders in our district!  I've lost some weight! I'm not sure how much but I'm excited. Haha, I have to be wedding dress ready by the time I come home!

Sorry this email is so scatter brained! I am trying to remember all the things I wanted to email about before the time runs out!

Oh! So learning Spanish is crazy hard. We've already been teaching mock investigator lessons in total Spanish for the last week and a half. I honestly don't feel like I'm making any head way but I'm going to study my hardest. I have to learn this language as soon as possible. After Saturday I realise how much I need to be able to say what's in my heart and what the Spirit is prompting me. It hit me last night that I have 4 weeks to become fluent in Spanish... I know it takes about 4 to 6 months but hopefully by the end of 4 weeks I'll be able to write an entire email in Spanish! That's my goal! I know if I study my hardest God will help me with the language. Sunday night I got a blessing my from two Elders in my district. I was sick with the cold but couldn't keep anything down. In the blessing I was promised how I would regain my health and how God would help me with the language if I study diligently. It was the most powerful blessing I have ever received, the Spirit was so strong. I could feel in my heart that God loves me and is always ready to help. I just have to be obedient and work my hardest.

I wish I had more time to email! But I'm going to send some pictures!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

Love,

Hermana Cornu

Sister Cornu in Peru Email #2

Dear Family and Friends,
It' day six at the CCM! I'm still absorbing the fact I'm in PERU!!!!! I have TWO comanperas!! Sister McInnes and Sister Tiaou! They're both amazing! I love them to pieces! Oh, side note, the key boards here are different and my email doesn't have spell check... so I apologize now.
Anywho, the CCM is beautiful! I can't wait to email photos! Oh and the food here is awesome! Real peruvian food, but tamed down a bit for us North Americans. Haha.
Oh! Today is our P Day! We got to go shopping!! We took a bus ride to the temple first (but weren't able to do temple work, the temple is closed for cleaning). The buses here are so tiny! Standing up my head hits the roof! And they pack as many people inside the bus as possible! It costs about 50 cents to ride the bus and in American dollars it's about 30 cents. The grocery stores for the most part are similar but there are more markets. For example there are these storage units that people set up little shops in! It's awesome!
I'm in district 103! I love it! The Hermanas and the Elders in my district are the best! Oh no, we had to wait forever to email, the teacher wasn't in the room to log us in. We have to log in twice and waited a second time. And now I'm being told I have to go. Everyone else got an hour but I'll get about 35 minutes, but that's okay. Next email will be longer! I'll send some photos now if possible!!! LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
Lots of love,
Hermana Cornu!

First email from Peru!!

Family and Friends!!!

I've made it to PERU! While in the Portland airport I met Elder Vanwood and in Dallace we met up with about 20 other Elder and Sister missionaries! We also ran into a lot of returning missionaries! We didn't arrive to the CCM until about 4 a.m.! Luckiy I was able to get in a full five hours of sleep! I've gotten my name tag!!! It's officle, I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! Life couldn't be better!

While riding on bus from the aiport in Callo to the CCM in La Molina I noticed how different the houses are here. They look like little boxes of all colors and sizes stacked one on top of the other! Decorated with graffiti!

The showers in the CCM decide for themselves if they want to be hot or cold. Makes for interesting showers! And for breakfast we had a milky peach yogurt and cereal and a banana!

Oh! I have to go! I'm safe and enjoying the adventure!! I love you all!!!!!!

Love always,

Hermana Cornu
Hey everyone! Sonia wanted to thank everyone who stopped by for her open house! Here are a few pictures she got to take from the set up of it. Again, thanks to everyone!
